Accident #1

    If you read our blog post about Moroccan traffic, then you should realize that we were bound to get into an accident eventually. Luckily, however, this accident was very minimal and no injuries were incurred aside from some minor scuff marks on our brand new paint job.
    We had been driving home from school last week when this accident happened. A Moroccan driver was driving crazily behind us, obviously in a frantic, hungry rush to get home for the Fitr since he had likely been fasting all day. As much as we would have liked to help this man break every speed limit imaginable to ease his hunger pains, we were unable to get into the right lane to allow him to pass because of traffic. So.... eventually this man became so impatient that he attempted to create a third lane to the left of us (which is actually not an uncommon driving ritual). Unfortunately, however, there was not enough room for his vehicle in this imaginary third lane, so he bumped into the rear of our car instead.
    We were going to post a picture of the minimal damage to our car; however, our landlord decided to wake up early this morning and fix it just for fun. Our landlord is pretty awesome. Throughout the duration of Ramadan (which ends this weekend) his family has brought us Fitr every single night. We really appreciate the generosity and hospitality of him and his family.

     In other news, we are doing very well. The apartment is almost completely set up. Pictures will come as soon as there are no longer wall shelves balancing on our dining room table waiting to be put up. This should happen soon now that the chaos of new staff orientation has ended. (There are some fabulous new staff members this year).
     Also, we are greatly looking forward to next week when we will finally be able to commence eating in public, restaurants will re-open, and businesses will go back to having semi-normal working hours.
