With the recent increase in Dar Bouazza residents (meaning more activity being pulled from that cell tower) coupled with our personal increase in downloading media entertainment online, the USB internet speed has greatly declined. With a baby on the way, we felt the need to increase our internet speed so that we can stream clear videos with our Skype calls home more efficiently (We have been unable to use video with Skype for quite sometime because our connection has not been strong enough to support video and audio simultaneously).
This is the process we went through to get a direct internet connection to our home
- We visited the Maroc Telecom office, but were told that we didn't have all of the paperwork necessary to start a contract.
- We gathered the necessary paperwork and returned to the Maroc Telecom office in order to establish a contract.
- Shockingly, the Maroc Telecom representative called us within 24 hours to inform us that they were 30 minutes away from our home to complete the direct line installation.
- Arriving at our house, the Maroc Telecom representative complained that we did not have all of the parts necessary to install a direct line. We had assumed it was his job, as the installation guy, to come prepared with all of the parts and tools necessary to install the line. How silly of us....
- Dave was sent to the hardware store in order to purchase the essential pieces needed to complete the installation.
- The Maroc Telecom representative completed the installation of a direct line; however, before rushing out the door he informed us that we still had to configure the internet modem to our computers before the actual internet installation would be complete. We had wrongly assumed that this task would be a part of his job description as well....
- Dave read through the French instruction manual in an effort to figure out how to configure the internet modem to our computers. Even though he followed all of the instructions, the internet was not working.
- 24 hours after Dave's configuration attempt, the internet light on our modem mysteriously turned green.
We have good internet! :)
-Dave & Nicole
