Welcome to Morocco Dad & Mary!
Just in case they had forgotten what we looked like, we greeted Dad and Mary at the airport on April 7, 2013 with a sign bearing their name. Props go to our landlord's daughter who made it for us and for insisting on covering it with glitter to give it that extra "pizazz".
Dar Bouazza
After having lunch at the Morocco Mall food court, we came home to unpack our new abundance of wealth. Thank you!
Unfortunately, our first venture outside of our apartment concluded with with an incident of thievery. Thinking all of the doors were locked in our car, we left to walk the beach in Dar Bouazza. We were gone for no longer than 15 minutes, but when we got back we found that all of our jackets were gone (along with Dave's pocket knife and Mary's sunglasses). Luckily, the crook never thought to check the trunk where Nicole had more discretely hidden her purse (within which was our camera, bank cards, and a lot of money). Finding Nicole's purse untouched was certainly a blessing in the midst of a frustrating moment; and thankfully jackets are easily replaceable. In fact, we went to the new mall (Anfa Place) the next day and bought new jackets for Dad, Mary, and Nicole. We'll get David a new one later. Until then, we anticipate the day where we drive through our peaceful little town of Dar Bouazza and see someone wearing our stolen attire.
Casablanca
Our second day adventures began at 10:00 am, when we toured the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. The Hassan II Mosque was constructed in 6 years (1987-1993) and has the highest religious minaret in the world. The building is truly exquisite.
